In 1557 the region
was habited by nomadic tribes Coahuiltecas,
there being you been founded as capital of the
new county August 12, 1689 with the name of
Santiago of the Monclova for the General Alonso
de Leon.
Monclova was the
capital of the State of Texas and Coahuila in
1821, and was distinguished for its capacity
producer of bovine and equine livestock as well
as of grain and nut. The railroad arrived in
1884 to Frontera, Coahuila. The Municipality of
Castanos was founded in 1916.
The first
equipment for the steel plant of High Ovens of
Mexico, S.A. de C.V., arrived in 1942 and two
years later they made the first Laundry of
Steel. This company caused a great demographic
and economic growth in Monclova and its region,
ending up settling down a great quantity of
other Metal-mechanical industries.
Monclova, the
biggest community been founded in 1689, with a
privileged strategic location, is a cosmopolitan
city with a lot of strength and easiness of
adaptation to the change that has gone by big
tests and that with its same people agricultural
cattleman, it is possible to transform into a
most important industrial steel center.
The Companies that
here have settled down they have been
successful, they have not disappeared, what
demonstrates the ability of their people to
optimize the productive and competitive
processes.
The Region is
composed of a great diversity of characters in
all the technician-scientific environments,
poets, composers, religious, teachers and
professionals that make of our City a very
complete community.

cosmopolitan personality has involved us in
innovative tendencies that now experience the
challenge of being channeled toward a
sustainable world economy of first level.
