This program is a system of scholarships for desert and center region of Coahuila young countrymen, with no possibility to finish their studies because their resources are not enough but have enthusiasm and will of being fair persons and want to be changing agents to their communities and to the nation.

This program was created because we know these commons do not have the necessary education for young people (the majority just have initial and elementary school). So they have to leave their communities to continue with their studies with a great financial cost.

For this reason Amigos del Desierto settled as goal to provide young countrymen with the necessary to continue his or her studies without problem.

The help consist in the following:

	Tuition.
	Scholar material.
	Monthly food supplies.
	Monthly Servi-vouchers
	Transport.
	Catechism.
	Academic help.
	A family to live with, if required.

This program started on August of 1996, with 84 students of different commons of Ocampo, Castaños and Cuatro Cienegas. At present, the program consist in almost 200 young countrymen of the Region.

To continue we expose the quantity of students enrolled each year in the SEIC:

	SEIC 1996-1997: 84 students.
	SEIC 1997-1998: 115 students.
	SEIC 1998-1999: 150 students.
	SEIC 1999-2000: 184 students.
	SEIC 2000-2001: 210 students.
	SEIC 2001-2002: 243 students.
	SEIC 2002-2003: 193 students.
	SEIC 2003-2004: 215 students.
	SEIC 2004-2005: 195 students.

:: NOTE :: These young people left their commons for a city to continue their studies. The cities are: Monclova, Castaños, Cuato Cienegas, Ocampo and Saltillo, High School and Professional studies.

By time we knew this people, their will of excel and their capacity, but unfortunately with no possibilities to prove it to society.

For this reason we believe it is worthy acknowledge their efforts. For that, we will mention in the following some diplomas youngsters of the SIEC got:

	Emilio García Mendoza – 98 % performance in first bimester.
	Perla Yuliana Del Bosque Vázquez – Grade 9.8 in 2nd bimester, Grade 10 in 3rd bimester,Grade 10 in 4th bimester.
	Miriam Elizabeth Rocha Puente – 2nd performance place 1999-2001.
	María De San Juan Lujan Sánchez – 1st  place in fourth period.
	Jacqueline Reyes Puente – 1er lugar en aprovechamiento 1999-2001.
	Isidro Reyes Puente – Grade 9.5
	Padilla Zúñiga Santa Lucía – 1st group performance place.
